Lovell Hockey is excited to announce that Defenseman Mike Higgins has committed to play College hockey at Holy Cross.

The Needham, MA native is in his 2nd year with the Northeast Generals of the North American Hockey League.   In 2018-2019 Mike has played 42 games and has 4 goals and 21 assists for 25 points.

The 5’10, 210 pound right shot D man has been a mainstay of Lovell Hockey since a young age.  He played for the New England Knights before playing  3 seasons in the T1EHL for the Boston Advantage before playing in the USHL and then with the Generals.

Mike currently coaches with Lovell Hockey as well, running skills and helping coach youth teams with the New England Knights.

“It is great for Mike.  He works so hard and is a great kid.  Really proud of him for the steps he has taken to ensure his game kept improving.  Having known and Coached Mike since he was really young we always thought he would develop into an elite player and it’s extremely rewarding to see it pay off.  Having been able to Coach Mike with the New England Knights at a young age and now with the Generals has been a great experience.” Said Generals Head Coach Joe Lovell.

GM Bryan Erikson added, “Excited for Mike.  He is a fantastic skater with an outstanding shot.  Looking forward to watching him play at the next level and happy that we will get to watch him play for a great local school like Holy Cross.  He also continues to solidify our great relationship with Lovell Hockey and Boston Advantage.  I think he is our 7th Lovell player to commit D1.  It’s a great relationship that we hope will continue to produce great talent.”

Higgins commitment comes fresh off a great performance at the NAHL Top Prospects Showcase that was held in Attleboro, MA for the first time this week.
